Building a paper airplane that flies far requires a special technique. Only then can it fly across the entire classroom, lecture hall, or office.
Building a paper airplane that flies far—instructions for folding
When building any airplane, it is important to follow the folds as precisely as possible to create sharp edges that will allow the paper airplane to fly smoothly.
- Take an A4 sheet of paper and fold it lengthwise down the middle.
- Now fold the corners on one side to the center line.
- Unfold the sheet and fold the resulting triangle over.
- Fold the newly created corners so that they touch the center fold.
- A new, smaller triangle has now been created in the middle. Fold this over.
- Turn the sheet over.
- Fold the sheet in half again so that all the folds you have made so far are on the outside.
- Fold the wings onto the bottom edge—done! Now you can test your plane. But don’t underestimate its range and make sure that no coworkers or fellow students are sitting in the flight path.
- Tip: You can follow all the steps again in the following image gallery.
