It is particularly common in winter for car doors in older cars to no longer close properly. Moisture penetrates between the window and door and causes the door closing mechanism to freeze.

  • Try jiggling the door handle a little from both inside and outside. Also pull the handle a few times in quick succession. This should cause the cable pull in the door to engage again.
  • If the door still does not close, use a door lock de-icer. Alternatively, spray the lock with a vinegar/water solution (1:1 ratio).
