 Polish car brands are less well known in Germany. However, the automotive industry is one of the largest sectors of the Polish economy. In addition to major manufacturers such as Fiat, General Motors, and Volkswagen, Poland also produces its own brands. The focus is on passenger cars, trucks, and buses.

  • Melex: The Polish car manufacturer Melex is one of the oldest manufacturers of electric vehicles. In the past, the carmaker mainly produced vehicles for golf courses. Today, the company produces environmentally sustainable electric cars. The company is headquartered in Mielec.
  • Solaris Bus & Coach: Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o. was founded in the 1990s and specializes in the production of buses. Since 2018, the company has been part of the Spanish CAF Group.
  • Solbus: This company also specializes in the production of environmentally friendly buses. Although the company was only founded in 2001, it is now one of the largest bus manufacturers in Poland.
  • Classic cars: Some Polish car brands can still be seen on the roads, but they are no longer in production, such as the Polski Fiat, Syrenka, and Polonez. The elegant “Warszawa M20” sedan is a cult classic. In the past, only a few people could afford one. The company KHM Motor Poland attempted to produce a replica.

Polish car brands – latest developments

 Cars play an important role in Poland. That is why new car brands are emerging.

  1. Arrinera Hussarya: Arrinera Automotive S.A. is headquartered in Warsaw and manufactures sports cars. The company was only founded in 2008 by brothers Łukasz and Marek Tomkiewicz. The sports car also competed in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in southern England.
  2. Izera: This car brand is still a dream for the future. The start-up company Electromobility Poland (EMP) is planning the new electric cars and recently presented two concept cars (an SUV and a compact model). The first series models are scheduled for 2023.
