The coat of arms and tool system in Hollow Knight: Silksong allows you to customize Hornet’s build to suit your personal play style.
Heraldry and tool system in Hollow Knight: Silksong: Everything you need to know about heraldry
Heraldry plays a central role in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
- Just like the silk skills and abilities in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you equip crests to customize Hornet’s build. There are a total of seven crests available to you.
- Each crest changes the normal attack and the pogo jump. With the Reaper Crest, for example, you perform slower attacks with a large radius. In addition, you can look forward to more silk from enemies.
- In addition, each crest has equipment slots that you can fill with tools. Each crest has a fixed number of these, and you cannot increase them.
- Not all tool slots are immediately usable after receiving the crest. You must unlock them using
memorial medals, which you can use to upgrade the crests. - Tip: Memorial medals can be found throughout Pharloom, so keep your eyes peeled for them.
Tools in the Crest System of “Hollow Knight: Silksong”: How They Work
Tools are an important part of the Crest System and builds in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
- Tools are used to enhance your crests. They are divided into four colors: white, yellow, red and blue. Each crest has a different number of slots in the tool colors.
- White tools are skills that allow you to refine the desired crest. One example is the silk spear. Hornet throws her stinger like a spear and deals more damage with unused silk.
- If it is a yellow tool, you use devices that you need for quests, exploration, or side activities, for example. The compass is one of these.
- Items for throwing or for direct consumption are marked as red tools. Throwing knives are among the red tools, as are bombs that you can craft.
- Last but not least, there are the blue tools, better known as protective spells. These tools help Hornet survive Pharloom better, for example the protective bell.
