Minecraft: Crafting and using campfires – here’s how

by Johannes

Minecraft uses campfires as an alternative light source and for cooking. Wood and a little coal are all you need to build one

Minecraft: Everything about the campfire

Campfires are essential for survival in the sometimes harsh world of Minecraft.

  • You can quickly conjure up a campfire. You will need a piece of coal or charcoal, three sticks and three blocks of wood or logs
  • Place the charcoal in the crafting field in the middle and all the wood blocks in the bottom row. Place the sticks to the right, left and above the charcoal
  • Once you have built a campfire, it will be lit automatically. You can use it as a light source or as a smoke signal. If you build the campfire on a bale of straw, the smoke signal even has a possible height of up to 25 blocks.
  • Of course you can cook with the campfire. For example, you can take raw meat, fish or a potato in your hand and interact with the fire. After 30 seconds, the feast is ready.
  • You can use campfires to appease bees by placing them directly under the nest. Dig in the campfire and place a carpet over it so that the bees are not harmed.
  • Of course, campfires can hurt. This applies not only to you, but also to your opponents. You can lure them into the fire for more damage
  • Tip: Campfires are not extinguished by rain. You will need a bucket of water. You can rekindle extinguished campfires with a lighter.
