Connecting two Alexa devices has several advantages. Among other things, it makes it easier to control your devices.
Connecting two Alexas – here’s how to do it in just a few steps
To connect Amazon Echos, first create a device group in the Alexa app.
- Go to the main menu and click on “Smart Home.”
- Then go to “Groups” ☻ “Add group.” If you have already set up groups, you also have the option of selecting a group to add the Amazon Echo to. Please note, however, that each device can only be assigned to one group.
- Set the group type to “Smart Home Group.” If you encounter problems creating the group, restart the Echo devices and the Alexa app.
- Once you have activated a group, assign a group name. Use simple but unique names. The location of the corresponding device is a memorable and unique name, for example.
- Short and concise names are advantageous when naming Amazon Echos. Alexa recognizes these quickly and responds accordingly. Use different activation words if the Echo Dots are very close to each other.
- After you have added the two Amazon Echos to a selected group, tap “Save.”
- Tip: You can also connect the Echos to each other via your browser after logging into your Amazon account.
Play music using the multi-room function
If you want to play the same music on multiple Alexas at the same time, you can do so using the multi-room function.
- Go to the Alexa app and open the device overview.
- Tap the plus icon and then tap “Combine speakers.”
- Go to “Multiroom Music” and follow the further instructions in the app.
