Disney+: Is there a cheaper subscription with advertising?

Disney+ already offered a cheaper subscription with advertising in the US, and now it has reached Germany too.

Cheaper subscription to Disney+ – What you need to know

After Netflix introduced a subscription with advertising, its competitor Disney+ is now following suit. This gives film and series fans the opportunity to stream for less money per month.

  • So far, the cheaper subscription called Disney+ Basic is only available in the US. For $7.99 per month, Disney fans can get their money’s worth. The previous subscription has been renamed Disney+ Premium and costs $10.99 per month.
  • There are now three different subscription options in Germany. The cheapest option is Disney+ Standard with ads for €6.99 per month.
  • The previous rate for Disney+ customers of €8.99 per month has been renamed Disney+ Premium and now costs €15.99 per month or €159.99 per year.
  • The advantage of the new offer: Disney+ customers who choose the low-cost plan do not have to compromise on content. This sets Disney apart from Netflix, which restricts the films and series available to low-cost subscription customers.
  • For every hour of streaming, Disney+ users will see about four minutes of advertising if they stream with the Disney+ Basic subscription.
  • Another disadvantage of the low-cost subscription is that there will be no option to watch movies and series offline, as this would prevent advertisements from being played. This means you cannot download any content.
