If you want to assemble the new Malm bed from IKEA in your own home, you don’t need a lot of tools or skill. We’ll show you what you need to pay attention to and give you some tips to help you with the assembly.
Assembling a Malm bed: First steps
- The Malm bed is packed in at least two boxes. You can open the boxes without any additional tools. If this is not the case, be careful not to cause any damage with a knife or scissors.
- It is best not to take the large individual parts out of the box. The box serves as the perfect base. This saves space during assembly and prevents further damage to the bed and floor.
- If you wish, you can sort the screws and other small parts supplied in advance. This is not absolutely necessary, but it will help you keep track of everything and always choose the right material.
Malm bed: Tips for assembly
- A screwdriver is all you need for assembly. However, this can be quite tiring in the long run. It is much easier to work with a cordless screwdriver.
- When working with the cordless screwdriver, make sure that you do not press the screws too deeply into the wood. Therefore, select the lowest possible setting. Even a low setting is sufficient for this type of wood.
- Now is also the time to check the battery of the cordless screwdriver. If the cordless screwdriver is not running at full power, you should recharge the battery now at the latest.
