With GMX, it is now very easy to save your login and remain permanently logged in. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
Save GMX login – Stay logged in permanently
In the past, you had to log back in to GMX after a period of inactivity, but this is no longer necessary: Once you have logged in, you will remain logged in to your user account until you log out yourself.
- Open the website www.gmx.net in your browser.
- Enter your GMX email address in the address field in the middle. Confirm with Continue.
- Now enter your password in the field provided. Then click on the Login button.
- You are now permanently logged into your GMX user account. You can see that the function is active by the round avatar in the upper right corner, which shows the initials of your username. Click on the icon to see, among other things, the function Exit mailbox – you remain logged in.
- You remain logged in even if you close the tab or browser. This means that you do not have to log in to GMX again even after restarting your PC. If you use several browsers at the same time, you must of course log in once in each of them.
Staying logged in to GMX – what you need to know
On your private PC at home, staying logged in to GMX increases convenience, as you don’t have to constantly log in again with your username and password. On other devices, however, you should remember to log out after use.
- If you want to log out of your GMX user account, first click on the avatar in the top right-hand corner and then on Logout.
- According to GMX, www.gmx.net uses special security features for permanent login. You will be automatically recognized when you open the page in the same browser. This makes permanent login fundamentally secure, provided there are no other security risks.
- For example, you should log out regularly on shared devices, otherwise other people can easily access your emails. This is especially true for public or third-party computers.
- With permanent login, you can theoretically use a particularly secure password, as you do not have to re-enter it every time.
- Please also note that if your PC or laptop is lost or stolen, unauthorized persons will also have access to your email account.
- Permanent login is automatically activated for all GMX accounts. You do not need to activate the function yourself. Conversely, you cannot deactivate it if you do not want to use it.
- Tip: If you log out of your GMX account frequently, you can save your login details in your browser or use a password manager.
Stay logged in with GMX MailCheck
GMX offers the GMX MailCheck extension for almost all common browsers. This extension can continuously check for new emails and redirect you directly to your inbox without you having to log in again each time.
- Install GMX MailCheck for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Opera.
- You will now be asked to log in to GMX with your email address and password. This is only necessary once, as a login token is generated during this process.
- A new icon will now appear in your browser’s menu bar. Click on it to see a preview of your unread emails. Clicking on a message will open it directly in your browser. From there, you can then switch to other areas of your GMX account without having to log in again.
