You can easily set up your GMX account in Thunderbird and check your emails. The program will suggest the correct settings itself.
Setting up Thunderbird in GMX – explained step by step
If you have not yet entered any email accounts in Thunderbird, the wizard for setting up existing email addresses will open automatically when you start the application. Otherwise, you can also open it yourself:
- First, open Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Click on the menu icon in the top right corner and select New Account > Email.
- Now enter your full name, your GMX email address, and the corresponding password. Confirm with Next.
- Thunderbird will now automatically search for the appropriate settings for the GMX account. You can then choose between IMAP and POP3.
- Tip: If you select IMAP, the emails will remain on the GMX server. With POP3, the retrieved emails will be downloaded to your PC and stored there.
- Confirm with Done to complete the account setup.
