Quark wraps for the knee – using home remedies correctly

by Tobias

Quark wraps for the knee are a very old home remedy. Used correctly, they relieve pain caused by inflammation or strains.

Quark wraps for the knee – two ways to use them

There are two ways to apply quark wraps to the knee.

  • Bandage: If you want to use the healing properties of quark in the form of a bandage, apply the quark to the affected knee. Then wrap a wide elastic bandage around it.
  • Compress: You will need a tea towel for a compress. Spread a thick layer of quark on it and then fold the towel once. The quark is now inside the tea towel and has no direct contact with the skin. Simply wrap the towel around the knee and secure it, for example with a knot.

Using home remedies correctly – that’s what matters

Both variants are equally effective. The only difference is whether the quark comes into direct contact with the skin or not.

    • The quark alone has a positive effect on inflammation or strains in the knee. The quark should be as cold as possible, but not ice cold, preferably straight from the refrigerator.
    • As soon as the quark becomes warm or crumbly, change the wrap. Since there are no side effects, you can use the quark wraps indefinitely.
    • Inflammation in particular causes the knee to overheat, which means that the quark warms up more quickly. To treat the inflammation effectively with this home remedy, you should apply at least three wraps in quick succession.
    • Bandages and wraps tend to slip easily on the knee. You should therefore secure the quark wrap in place, for example with a few short strips of medical tape.
    • In addition to applying quark wraps, you should rest a painful and inflamed knee, preferably by elevating the leg. To protect the sofa from possible quark stains, place a thick towel underneath.
