Sending suitcases with Hermes – how it works

by Johannes

If you want to send a suitcase with Hermes, you can either have it picked up or drop it off. The parcel delivery service makes sending luggage quite straightforward.

Sending suitcases with Hermes – what you need to know

If you are traveling by train or bicycle, for example, sending heavy suitcases is not a bad idea. Parcel delivery companies such as Hermes will deliver your suitcases to your destination, allowing you to start your vacation completely unencumbered.

  • Hermes offers you two options: You can drop off your suitcases at one of the Hermes shops. Alternatively, you can choose the particularly convenient option and have your suitcase picked up right at your door by one of the Hermes delivery drivers. It is best to arrange the pickup of your suitcases online.

  • The conditions vary slightly depending on whether you drop off your suitcases at a Hermes shop or have them picked up by Hermes. However, in both cases, your luggage is insured for up to €1,000. Hermes also offers shipment tracking.

  • The maximum permitted size is also the same. Luggage items may not exceed 120 x 60 x 60 centimeters.

  • However, there are significant differences in the maximum total weight of the suitcase. If you drop off your luggage yourself at Hermes, it may weigh a maximum of 25 kilograms. If you have Hermes pick up your suitcase, it may weigh up to 31.5 kilograms.

  • When shipping your suitcase, make sure that your luggage has a carrying handle and is securely closed.

  • In addition to the banderole on the suitcase, it is always a good idea to place the travel address and home address clearly visible on the suitcase at least once more, for example with luggage tags.

This is what suitcase transport with Hermes costs

  • If you drop off your suitcase yourself at a Hermes shop, you will pay €19.95 for shipping.

  • If you are spending your vacation on a German island and want your suitcase delivered there, a surcharge of €7 per piece of luggage will be charged.
