Export Spotify playlists: Here’s how

⁠You can export your Spotify playlist with just a few clicks. This makes it easy to transfer your music collection to other music services.

If you want to back up or move your Spotify playlist, you must first export it. There are various tools available for this, such as Soundiiz, Exportify, Chosic, and FreeYourMusic. However, some require a paid subscription to export more than 500 songs in a playlist. In these instructions, we use the free service from TuneMyMusic.

• Open the TuneMyMusic.com website. Select Spotify and log in to your Spotify account.

• Confirm access to your account and you will be able to view all playlists from your Spotify account.

• Select the desired playlists and then select the desired destination. This can be either another streaming service or a file for download.

• You can choose between TXT and CSV formats to download the playlist. We recommend downloading both versions.

• Only grant the necessary permissions and remove access again via the settings in your Spotify account once the export is complete. This will ensure that your account remains protected.

Export formats CSV vs. TXT – advantages and disadvantages

The main difference between the export formats is CSV and TXT.

• CSV files are structured in columns and contain all relevant metadata such as title, artist, album, and often the Spotify URL. They are ideal for backups, importing into other music services, or editing in spreadsheet programs.

• The disadvantage: A spreadsheet editor is usually required to open them conveniently, and commas in fields can cause problems.

• Only the title and artist are saved in the TXT file. These are plain text lists that can be viewed immediately in any editor. They are ideal for quick overviews, but rarely contain metadata and are therefore less flexible for importing or structured further processing.

• Please note that these tools only export metadata—they do not download music files such as MP3 or FLAC. Downloading music from Spotify is not only a different technical process, but is also generally prohibited by the terms of use.
