If you want to use the AI browser ChatGPT Atlas on your Windows 11 PC, you’ll have to take a detour. Native support is not yet available.
Using ChatGPT Atlas with Windows 11: Release date not yet known
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Atlas, a new browser equipped with various ChatGPT features.
- At present (as of November 2025), the browser is only available for macOS. A Windows version is expected to follow.
- The exact release date of the Windows version is not yet known. This is not surprising, as the ChatGPT desktop app was also first released for Mac devices.
- ChatGPT for Windows was only available about six months later. If OpenAI sticks to this development timeframe, a release can possibly be expected in March or April 2026.
- Note: iOS and Android versions are also in the works. Here, too, you’ll have to wait a little longer before you can use the browser.
ChatGPT Atlas: Using the AI browser on Windows 11 devices via VM
Although the AI browser is not yet available for Windows PCs, you can use a virtual machine to get around this.
- Virtual machines (VM) allow you to install an additional operating system on your device. The VM acts as an access point to the other computer system.
- This allows you to install a version of macOS on your Windows 11 PC. Of course, you will need a
suitable program such as Virtual Box. - You will also need to create a bootable installation program for macOS. Once you have set up the VM, you can use this to install macOS on your device and then start using it.
- Then download ChatGPT Atlas and install the browser. The VM runs as a separate window on your desktop, allowing you to use the browser effectively.
