On WhatsApp, you can see who has blocked you. We explain exactly how this works on the messenger here.
Blocked on WhatsApp: How to see if you’ve been blocked
If you suspect that one of your contacts may have blocked you on WhatsApp, there are a few clues that may indicate this. To check for these signs, you must first select the person in question in the app and look for the following indications:
- Online status: If the contact has blocked you, you will no longer be able to see when they were last online. However, this may also be influenced by the person’s privacy settings. Users can specify in their settings that this information should not be displayed at all.
- No profile picture: The profile picture will also no longer be displayed. Instead, you will see the white default image, i.e., a generic avatar.
- Contact status not visible: Tap on the contact’s name at the top. If you can no longer see the status, you have most likely been blocked.
- Message is no longer delivered: If you send a message to the person, it will only be sent with a check mark, but the message will not reach the contact.
- Create group: If you try to add the contact to a group and this is not possible, this could also be an indication that you have been blocked.
- To find out if you have been blocked, you need to check whether the contact in question is still providing you with their information.
- However, if your contact is a rather private person who does not share much information about themselves, such as pictures, online status, or message read status, you will need to check whether your chats are being delivered.
- Note: In another tip, we explain how you can block unwanted contacts in WhatsApp yourself.
