With Beat Saber multiplayer, you can compete against your friends in exciting matches. You can choose any song that is available in single-player mode.
Beat Saber: Multiplayer & PlayStation support is being discontinued
These restrictions apply to Sony devices:
- As of June 18, 2025, updates and support for PlayStation users of Beat Saber have been discontinued. This means that you will not be able to receive any new content for the game via your device. However, all content you have already purchased will be retained and can still be played.
- Multiplayer mode will also no longer be supported on PlayStation VR & VR2 from January 21, 2026. You will no longer be able to play against your friends from this date.
- The developers have stated that they want to focus on other areas of the game and continue to develop these.
- Future updates and new features will therefore be limited to the Steam and Meta Quest platforms (as of June 2025).
The most important information about Beat Saber Multiplayer
What you need to know about multiplayer mode:
- Players: You can compete against up to 5 friends or random opponents in the game. However, only one player can play in multiplayer mode at a time within a single account.
- Songs: There are no restrictions on playable songs. All songs purchased in the base game or expansion packs are available in multiplayer.
- Modes: Of the existing game modes, “One Saber” and “No Arrow” can also be played in multiplayer, while 90° mode is not compatible.
- Platforms: The game mode is available via SteamVR, on Meta Quest, and with a PlayStation Plus subscription.
- Crossplay: If you and your fellow players have different VR devices, you can only compete against each other to a limited extent. Cross-platform play between Meta Quest and SteamVR is supported. PlayStation users cannot currently connect to other devices, and this will also no longer be possible for Quest 1 as of November 2024.
- Custom Songs Mod: This mod cannot be used in multiplayer mode via Meta Quest headsets. If you still don’t want to do without custom songs, you’ll have to switch to another VR headset in combination with the PC version.
Instructions: How to start multiplayer
The path to a game with other players begins in the main menu:
- First, select Online mode. You will then be taken to the screen where you can create your avatar. Here you can customize your character to make it distinguishable from other players.
- Once you have finished creating your avatar, you must now select the difficulty level for yourself and your fellow players. The more difficult the game is set, the faster the blocks to be cut will move.
- Now it’s time to choose a selection of tracks. If you select the “Built In” option, only songs that are included in the basic version of Beat Saber will be suggested. If you select “All,” tracks from purchased add-ons will also be playable.
- If you choose “All,” keep in mind that not every player may have purchased the same expansion packs. If a player does not have the selected track, they will have to wait in spectator mode until the song has finished playing.
- Before the game begins, you and your fellow players will be added to a lobby. Here you can vote on which song you want to play, and then the game will start.
