The iPhone 17 Air combines an extremely slim design with modern battery management, but its battery life is moderate compared to other current iPhone models.
This is how long the iPhone 17 Air’s battery lasts on average
As with any smartphone, battery life depends heavily on how often you use your iPhone during the day and what you use it for. The iPhone 17 Air can usually last a day at most before you need to recharge it.
- This assumes that you don’t use it particularly intensively. The iPhone 17 Air has a battery with a capacity of around 2,800 to 3,000 mAh, or more precisely 3,036 mAh in the SIM version and 3,149 mAh in the eSIM version.
- These values are lower than those of the other iPhone 17 models and are a result of the ultra-thin case, which is only 5.6 millimeters thick.
- Apple itself claims 27 hours of battery life for normal video playback and 22 hours for streaming video playback. However, intensive streaming or gaming sessions can significantly shorten the charging intervals.
- For very active users, one battery charge may not always last the whole day. Apple therefore offers a special battery case or MagSafe power bank as a solution, which significantly extends the runtime. Such a power bank is also available for previous models.
How to charge the iPhone 17 Air wirelessly
The iPhone 17 Air relies exclusively on wireless charging – conventional charging ports such as USB-C are no longer available on this model.
- You can charge using either MagSafe or Qi2.2 chargers.
- With Qi2.2, charging power of up to 25 watts can be achieved, provided the charger is compatible.
- Apple’s own MagSafe chargers are designed to enable particularly fast and secure wireless charging.
- In addition, there are new wireless battery cases and power banks that attach magnetically to the device and provide seamless power.
