Vinted (formerly Kleiderkreisel) is very easy to use. As the name suggests, it’s all about clothing. You can buy or sell items on this sharing platform.
How Vinted (Kleiderkreisel) works
Cleaning out or filling your wardrobe is easy with Vinted.
- On Vinted, you can buy, sell, exchange, and even give away used clothing.
- To trade on the second-hand platform, you must be registered and have an account. As a buyer, you benefit from transaction protection on Vinted: the seller only receives the money after the item has been shipped.
- You don’t have to buy a pig in a poke, but can contact the seller and discuss the item with them.
- Credit card, online banking via instant transfer, and PayPal are available as payment options. You do not pay the seller directly.
- The purchase price is first transferred to the “Vinted wallet” and remains there until the seller has shipped the item and the buyer has confirmed receipt. Only then can the seller withdraw the money to their account. The platform retains a commission.
International expansion of Vinted
Vinted continued its international expansion in June 2025 by connecting its German and Dutch users across borders for the first time.
- Since June 3, 2025, users from Germany and the Netherlands have been able to buy and sell secondhand fashion items across national borders via Vinted. This integration expands the range of products on offer and provides more trading opportunities for the community by reaching a wider selection of potential buyers from neighboring countries.
- It is important to note that professional sellers with a “Vinted Pro” account will not be able to take advantage of these cross-border trading opportunities at first. The German-Dutch marketplace connection follows previous country expansions, in which German users have been able to trade with French and Italian sellers since the end of 2024.
- With this expansion, Vinted aims to make trading between users as easy and accessible as possible, thereby promoting sustainable consumption.
Strategic mergers and product range expansion
Vinted has significantly expanded its product range through several strategic mergers and product range expansions. The merger with former platforms such as Kleiderkreisel and Mamikreisel led to a unified “Vinted” brand in Germany in 2021, bringing secondhand fashion and children’s clothing offerings under one roof.
- In 2024, Rebelle, a platform specializing in high-quality secondhand luxury items, was integrated. Rebelle was closed and its users and exclusive product range were incorporated into Vinted. Rebelle’s expertise was also acquired, particularly in the area of authenticity verification and the luxury segment, which is now being continued under a separate luxury division at Vinted led by the former Rebelle team.
- In addition to fashion and luxury items, Vinted introduced a new category for electronic products in 2024. Used electronic items such as music devices, radios, speakers, video games, consoles, e-readers, and wearables are now officially available in their own segment. With this expansion, Vinted aims to diversify its offering and tap into new growth drivers, as used electronics are becoming increasingly popular with consumers.
- Cosmetics, beauty, and personal care items, including beauty devices and gadgets, have also been added to the range, further expanding the product selection for users.
