Chatroulette was the first video chat service to connect two random users with each other. However, there are now several alternatives available. In the following article, we present three other chat services.
1. Alternative to Chatroulette: Omegle
Omegle is already widely used and has a large number of visitors.
- Similar to Chatroulette, this service also allows you to chat with a randomly generated user via keyboard, microphone, and camera. You can get in touch immediately and free of charge without having to register.
- One advantage of this service is that chat histories can be saved so that you can review them later.
- Since Omegle is used by many users, there are also a large number of chat partners.
- Although the platform has moderators, there are also unmoderated areas. That’s why Omegle warns against fake users who only want to harass you.
2. Alternative: VideochatDe
VideochatDe is considered the German version of Chatroulette.
- However, this chat platform has only been translated into German. Due to poor translation, it is not always clear what is meant, especially in the code of conduct.
- A positive feature of VideochatDe is that you can select a country code for your chat partners. This allows you to decide which country they should come from.
- The more colorful design also sets it apart from other alternatives. Overall, however, the functions are the same. Here, too, you can start for free without registering.
3. Video chat platform: Hey People
Hey People offers more than just chats with strangers.
- In addition to the option of seeing random users, as with other video chat platforms, you can also make a preselection here.
- You can specify your interests and send users a friend request.
- To use the friend request feature, you must create a free account. All you need is a username and password.
- You must immediately block users who bother or harass you, as there is no real moderation.
