Lose weight vegan: How effective is the change in diet really?

by Tobias

If you want to lose weight vegan, a change to a diet without animal products is not enough. Giving up animal foods alone will not make you lose weight. We have summarised what is important for you in this article.

Lose weight vegan: Lose weight with a vegan diet

Vegan foods do not guarantee weight loss. The rule, as with any diet or nutrition, is to give your body fewer calories than it consumes, or vice versa: to consume more calories than you take in through food.

  • This is why you should avoid high-calorie snacks. Vegetables or fruit are better for snacks. If you don’t like these types of snacks, go for whole-grain products. These provide fibre and healthy carbohydrates.
    • Take your time at mealtimes. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly. Once you are full, you should stop eating – no matter how full your plate may be. You can eat leftovers later if you keep them in the fridge.
      • Another weight loss trick that not only works for vegan cooking and is also healthy: drink a lot, preferably still water or tap water. This has no calories and fills your stomach. You can read about what happens if you drink too little in another article.
      • Good digestion supports weight loss. If you eat flaxseed regularly – preferably with every meal – you will not only support your intestines, but the small grains will also fill you up.
        • Without exercise, you will not lose weight even on a vegan diet. Therefore, in addition to a healthy eating plan, you should also pay attention to a balanced sports programme. By the way, we also present healthy sports in our articles.
        • Refuse ready-made meals, which are now also available in a large selection for vegan cuisine. Meatless alone should not be the only criterion by which you choose your food. Ready-made meals usually contain additives that are not healthy for the body.
