Creating an invitation link in WhatsApp: Here’s how
An invitation link makes it easier for people to join a WhatsApp group. To create such a link, you must be a group administrator. If this requirement is met, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp and the group for which you want to create the invitation link.
- Tap the three dots in the top right-hand corner and select ‘Group info’.
- Scroll down slightly and tap the “Invite via link” button.
- A link will then be generated automatically, allowing the recipient to join the group with a simple tap.
- You can send the link directly via WhatsApp. You can also copy the link to the clipboard and share it on other social media platforms from there.
- It is also possible to generate a QR code that others can then scan.
Resetting the invitation link: Here’s how
If you’ve shared the link with people you didn’t actually want to invite to the group, you can reset the invitation link. It will then no longer be possible to join the group via this link.
- To do this, open the WhatsApp group and tap the three dots.
- Select ‘Group Info’ and tap ‘Invite via link’.
- Now tap “Reset link”.
- If you wish, you can then create a new invitation link. To do this, follow the steps described in the first chapter.
