With the weather app on your Samsung smartphone, you always have the weather at a glance. If the app is no longer updating, there may be several reasons for this.
Weather app not updating on Samsung – here’s what you can do
The following steps will help you get your weather app on your Galaxy smartphone updating again.
- Open the app settings by tapping the three lines in the top left corner and then tapping the gear icon. Look for Automatic Update and make sure it is enabled. This is the only way to get the latest weather data without having to update manually.
- Turn on your smartphone’s GPS by opening the quick settings at the top of your Galaxy smartphone and tapping the location icon. Alternatively, you can activate the slider in the settings under Location.
- In the same submenu, you can check the permission granted to use location data and location accuracy. To do this, click on App permissions and select Weather. Always allow should be selected and Use precise location should be enabled. Please note that bad weather such as heavy cloud cover or rain can interfere with GPS reception.
- An incorrect time setting can also cause problems when updating weather data. To set the correct time, open General Management in the settings and click on Date and Time. Here, activate the Set date and time automatically option.
- The servers may be busy or unavailable at the moment. Please try again later.
- If saved locations are no longer being updated, it often helps to clear the app’s cache and data. To do this, open your smartphone’s settings and navigate to Apps. Search for the weather app and tap on its name. Then select Storage and then Clear cache and Delete data. The app will now be reset and the locations must be saved again under Manage locations.
- Restarting your smartphone may also help. You can do this by pressing and holding the power button or opening the quick settings menu and selecting the option to turn off the device.
- If these tips do not solve the problem, we recommend installing a different weather app. Reliable alternatives include The Weather Channel, Google Weather, and AccuWeather.
