Pets in Grounded are loyal companions that you can take with you around the front yard. But first, you have to tame these cute insects.
Grounded: Pets and their favorite foods
If you want a pet by your side in Grounded, you’ll need to lure it with the right food. As we all know, the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and this is also true for the three types of pets:
- You can tame aphids with a plant paste made from plant fibers. When you’re traveling with these peaceful insects, you’ll use less stamina when sprinting.
- On the other hand, you won’t get thirsty so quickly as the owner of a weevil. You can lure these relaxed beetles with mush made from mushrooms or mushroom parts.
- If you want a flying pet instead, simply tame a shaggy fly. All you need is a paste made from rotten meat, such as that of other insects like termites. With a pet fly, you can glide longer with dandelion tufts.
- You can make the mash with the blender, which you can research at the beginning of the game. To make it, you need five red ants, three flower petals, two plant stems, and two acorn shells. You can then use it to prepare the mash.
- To make the animals feel at home, you will also need a pet house. For this, you will need four mushroom tiles, two plant stems, two crow feathers, and one acorn shell. You can research the pet house by analyzing a mushroom tile.
- Note: Your pets can only die on the highest difficulty level. They will then drop a gravestone, which you can place wherever you like.
Grounded: Taming pets correctly
Once you have chosen a pet in Grounded, prepared the appropriate porridge and a house for it, you can tame it. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Place the porridge in your inventory and search for your preferred pet. If you want to be on the safe side, prepare one porridge for each encounter so that you are prepared.
- Once you have found the animal, place the porridge directly in front of it. It should now eat the porridge automatically. Depending on the species, you may need to feed it several times and then stroke it when it performs a little dance.
- Your pet will then join you. It has ten additional inventory slots and you can craft armor for it so that it can survive possible attacks from predatory insects and arachnids.
- If you want to keep the animal safe, you must place it in the pet house. It is also important to interact with it regularly and feed it, otherwise it will become sad.
- You can also take it with you on your adventures, visit it at the pet shop, or dress it up to keep it happy. If it gets too sad, it will run away and no longer be tamed.
