If you want to find out the current server seed in Minecraft, all you need is the right command for the chat.
How to find out the server seed in Minecraft: Instructions
Server seeds in Minecraft form the basis for the world you inhabit. If you want to share a specific world with your friends or save it for a multiplayer game, proceed as follows:
- First: For this method, you must first enable cheats. In the Java edition, you can do this either during world creation or later in the game by switching to the main menu and clicking on Open in LAN. In the Bedrock version, you will always find the option in the game menu.
- Once you are in the world, you need to open the chat or command console. This can be done using the [T] or [-] keys.
- Now enter the command /seed. Press [ENTER] to confirm your entry.
- The server seed will now be displayed. You can then copy it and share it with other players.
- Important: Multiplayer servers in Minecraft only allow the operator to use commands. There are no restrictions in single player mode.
Finding the server seed in Minecraft: Methods for players
If you are not the operator of the server in Minecraft, there are several ways to obtain the seed.
- Simply ask the world operator for the seed. This is often the easiest method.
- Alternatively, you can use the World Downloader tool. Install World Downloader and then start Minecraft. Then open the world.
- In the game menu, you will now find the option Download this world. Click on it and move around in the world for a while. The tool will then save it as a single-player world in your saves.
- Now you can start the world in single player and find out the seed using the /seed command.
- You can also use seed crackers such as SeedcrackerX. These show you the data they have determined directly in the game after you have explored certain parts of the world.
- Important: There are several reasons why operators may not share the seed. For example, if it is an adventure map or if they do not want the world management to fall into the wrong hands, you should respect the administrators’ wishes.
