How to indicate your expected graduation date on your resume

by Johannes
Many people don’t know how to correctly indicate their expected graduation date, for example, high school graduation or university degree, on their resume. Learn more about this in this practical tip.

It’s easy to state your expected degree on your resume

Under the heading Education, inform your future employer about the qualifications you have achieved so far. If you are still studying, here are two examples of how to mention this correctly in your resume. Resumes are always structured in descending order, so your expected degree should be at the top. You can also provide an estimate of your final grade.

  • 05/2019 expected: Secondary school diploma with very good results. 09/2013 – 05/2019: Example Secondary School in Munich. 09/2009 – 09/2013: Example Elementary School in Starnberg.
  • 8/2015 – 05/2019: Expected Bachelor of Arts degree from Example University in Munich.
  • Abbreviations for “expected” are not recommended, as they can lead to misunderstandings. Therefore, please refrain from using: expected, prev., vrstl., vrsl., vssl., vstl., or vsl.
  • If your expected final grade is requested in the application, you can also indicate your current grade point average. A copy of your last transcript is also possible.
