How to try Amazon Prime Student
You can currently try Amazon Prime Student for 6 months free of charge. This is a particularly long trial period compared to many other subscription models and allows you to experience all the benefits of Prime without any risk. Only after this period has expired will the membership become chargeable, unless you cancel it beforehand.
- After the trial period, you pay $44.90 per year or $4.49 per month. This saves you around 50 percent compared to a regular Prime membership. This makes the offer particularly attractive for students and trainees, as it provides the full range of features at half the price.
- You can use the discounted membership until you complete your studies, but for a maximum of four years. This limitation ensures that the offer is specifically intended for students and does not continue indefinitely.
- Once you have completed your studies or exceeded the four-year limit, your membership will automatically be converted to a regular Prime subscription. This means you don’t have to actively worry about renewing your membership, but you should keep an eye on the costs if you want to continue using Prime.
- You can easily manage your membership at any time via your Amazon account. There you can, for example, change your payment method, pause your renewal, or cancel your Prime Student membership completely.

You must meet these requirements
To use Amazon Prime Student, you must meet certain requirements.
- First things first. To use Amazon Prime Student, you must be a student or trainee.
- Amazon requires certain mandatory documentation to verify that you are indeed a student. In addition to your university email address, you must also provide your university and degree program. Trainees must submit proof of training, e.g., (vocational) school ID, confirmation of enrollment, or AzubiCard.
- Even if you are starting a new or second degree, you can only use the free trial year once.
- Unfortunately, this offer is not available to school students. It is exclusively for university students and trainees.
New model since June 2025: Prime for young adults
Since June 2025, there has been a new discount model alongside Prime Student: Prime for young adults. This is aimed at all 18- to 22-year-olds, regardless of whether they are studying or not. This means that trainees, young professionals, and young people in voluntary service can also benefit.
- The offer grants an automatic 50% discount on regular Prime membership.
- All you have to do is verify your age; proof of student status is not required. This makes the barrier to entry significantly lower than with the classic student rate.
- There is also a trial period of up to 6 months free of charge. This gives young adults the opportunity to try out the benefits extensively before deciding on a discounted subscription.
