When it comes to your own internet or Wi-Fi, you will often hear the term SSID. In this practical tip, we explain exactly what it is and how to find your SSID.
SSID: What is it exactly?
- SSID is the abbreviation for “Service Set Identifier.” This identifier is nothing more than the name of Wi-Fi networks.
- You need the SSID to connect to the correct Wi-Fi network. The SSID allows you to distinguish your Wi-Fi from other networks.
- The SSID of your router usually bears the device name of the manufacturer, such as “FritzBox 7490.” However, you can also change the SSID if you wish.
