Pokémon GO: Evolving Eevee – how to get Aquana, Flamara, and more.

by Pramith

Eevee is one of the most popular Pokémon in Pokémon GO, not least because of its many possible evolutions. Trainers can now evolve their Eevee into a total of eight different Pokémon.

How to evolve Eevee in Pokémon GO: The nickname trick

The easiest way to get a specific Eevee evolution is to use the nickname trick. All you have to do is change your Eevee’s name and then evolve it. However, this only works once per evolution and per account. So use this trick wisely, preferably on a particularly strong or shiny Eevee. Simply select the Pokémon you want and overwrite its name using the keyboard:

  • “Rainer” → evolves into Aquana (water)

  • “Sparky” → evolves into Jolteon (Electric)

  • “Pyro” → evolves into Charmander (Fire)

  • “Sakura” → evolves into Psiana (Psychic)

  • “Tamao” → evolves into Nachtara (Dark)

  • “Linnea” → evolves into Folipurba (Plant)

  • “Rea” → evolves into Glaziola (Ice)

  • “Kira” → evolves into Feelinara (Fairy)

  • After renaming, the silhouette of the desired evolution will appear on the Evolve button. If this is not the case, the trick may have already been used.

How to get the other Eevee forms without nicknames

If you have already used the nickname trick, there are alternative methods for each Eevee form. These vary depending on the Pokémon type and include, for example, running with the Pokémon as your buddy, using Lure Modules, or collecting hearts. Here are the current conditions:

  • Aquana, Blitza, Flamara: These three evolutions from the first generation are obtained at random, provided you do not meet any other conditions. You only need 25 Eevee Candies per evolution. If you want to influence the form, your only options are the nickname trick (one-time use) or the random chance.

  • Psiana and Nachtara: To obtain Psiana or Nachtara without a nickname, you must set Eevee as your buddy, walk ten kilometers with it (collect two candies), and keep Eevee as your active buddy. Psiana will then evolve during the day, and Nachtara will evolve at night.

  • It is crucial that the time of day is correctly recognized in the game. Pay attention to the corresponding representation of the sky (light/dark).

  • Folipurba and Glaziola: For these evolutions, you need a special lure module that must be activated at a PokéStop. For Folipurba, use a moss lock module, and for Glaziola, use a glacier lock module.

  • Make sure you are within range of the activated PokéStop. Then open your Eevee – the corresponding silhouette should appear on the evolve button. Only then can you evolve it correctly.

  • Feelinara: Evolving into Feelinara takes a little more time, but it’s easy to plan. You need to collect 70 hearts with Eevee as your buddy – that’s about seven days of daily interactions (feeding, petting, battling, visiting new places, etc.). Only when you have reached 70 hearts will Feelinara’s silhouette appear on the Evolve button.

  • Note: During certain events, the requirements may be reduced, e.g., only seven hearts or one kilometer of walking. However, these changes are always temporary.
