by Tobias

For your own safety, you should create a restore point before making any major changes to Windows 11.

Create a restore point in Windows 11 – the preparatory work

Before you can create a restore point in Windows 11, you need to check a few settings and change them if necessary.

  1. Enter “Restore point” in the Windows search bar and click on the search result “Create restore point”.
  2. In the window that opens, select the “System Protection” tab and click ‘Configure’.
  3. It is important that the “Turn on system protection” option is enabled in the next dialog box.
  4. Under “Storage space usage”, you can use a slider to adjust the amount of storage space reserved for system recovery. However, you usually do not need to change anything here.
  5. Confirm your entries by clicking “OK”.

After checking the settings and “Configure,” you will automatically return to the previous window.

  1. Now click on “Create.”
  2. Another window will open in which you must first enter a name for the restore point and confirm your entry with “OK”.
  3. The system will automatically insert the current date and time and create a restore point.
  4. You will receive a message when the restore point has been created. If you want to restore the system to a specific point in time, you will find the “System Restore” option in the same window.
