For your own safety, you should create a restore point before making any major changes to Windows 11.
Create a restore point in Windows 11 – the preparatory work
Before you can create a restore point in Windows 11, you need to check a few settings and change them if necessary.
- Enter “Restore point” in the Windows search bar and click on the search result “Create restore point”.
- In the window that opens, select the “System Protection” tab and click ‘Configure’.
- It is important that the “Turn on system protection” option is enabled in the next dialog box.
- Under “Storage space usage”, you can use a slider to adjust the amount of storage space reserved for system recovery. However, you usually do not need to change anything here.
- Confirm your entries by clicking “OK”.
Create restore point
After checking the settings and “Configure,” you will automatically return to the previous window.
- Now click on “Create.”
- Another window will open in which you must first enter a name for the restore point and confirm your entry with “OK”.
- The system will automatically insert the current date and time and create a restore point.
- You will receive a message when the restore point has been created. If you want to restore the system to a specific point in time, you will find the “System Restore” option in the same window.
