You can download Shutter Encoder for Windows, macOS, or Linux from the official website. For Windows, there is an installer and a portable version (no installation required, just unzip the archive), and for macOS, there are versions for Intel and Apple Silicon.
Additionally, the website offers sets of presets (pre-set conversion settings templates), for example, for YouTube, which can be imported into the program.
Next, we will look at an example of using the portable Windows version:
- When you first launch the program, you will see a compact window where you can add files for conversion by dragging and dropping them or using the “Browse” button.
- The next step is to select the conversion task in the “Select function” field. This is essentially a selection of formats for conversion, where all popular video and audio codecs are available. The star to the right of “Start function” allows you to import ready-made conversion presets.
- Immediately after that, the full conversion settings window will open, as shown in the image at the beginning of the article, with a video preview and the ability to set parameters.
- In the panel on the right, you can set the exact parameters of the audio and video codecs, change the size or aspect ratio of the video, add effects or subtitles, crop the video, perform color correction, add watermarks and other elements.
- The left panel contains export settings, save paths, name templates and target file extensions, and other settings related to the final export.
- You can also set the video segments for conversion on the timeline using the tools below the video preview. In the status bar of the Shutter Encoder window, you can also enable/configure GPU hardware acceleration.
- Once you have finished configuring the settings, simply click the “Start Function” button in the left panel, and the conversion of all added files will start with the settings you have configured:
