In Palworld multiplayer mode, depending on the server, you can explore the world with more than 32 other players, catch monsters, and build your own base.
Palworld Multiplayer and Co-op – what you need to know
How you play Palworld in multiplayer depends on how many players you want to play with at the same time. This does not change the content of the game. Palworld is available on Steam, Xbox, Windows PC, and as part of Xbox Game Pass.
- Palworld offers a variety of multiplayer options that allow you to play with friends. Since the v0.5.0 update in March 2025, cross-platform play has been possible in Palworld – users of different systems can now play together in the same world.
- Players on Steam, Xbox (including Game Pass), and PlayStation 5 can play together across platforms in Palworld.
- Palworld can be played alone or in co-op mode with others. The developer Pocketpair offers its own official servers where you can create a character and start playing.
- In addition to official servers, there are also community servers provided by other players. If you just want to play with up to three friends at the same time, you can start a co-op game without a server. With a server, you can play with more than four other players. The number varies depending on the server.
- To start your own session, you or another player must create a world and host the game on your own PC. This option avoids having to rent a game server for money or join one of the official servers. However, a maximum of only four players can play at the same time.
- Please also note that a server has certain system requirements and requires computing power. It is therefore recommended to use a separate PC as a server, as otherwise you may lack computing power and the game may not run smoothly. Another option is to rent a paid server. Prices for servers usually start at $9.99.
- In addition to hosting your own Palworld server via Steam, Xbox players and Xbox Game Pass users can now also create their own servers.
- Game worlds in Palworld can now also be hosted via cloud servers, as corresponding solutions are officially supported. Providers such as IONOS offer flexible and scalable options for players who want to run their own servers.
- Tip: The developers of Palworld regularly release updates that include new multiplayer features and quality of life improvements. Follow the official patch notes to stay informed about the latest changes and new features.
What Palworld’s multiplayer mode has to offer
In terms of content, a co-op world is no different from a solo world. However, there are a few other exciting additions.
- In multiplayer mode, players are free to create a guild and invite other players to join. This is useful because players in the same guild can access facilities in the base. In addition, chests can be password-protected if you don’t want to share certain resources or items with other players.
- Similarly, only you have access to the Pals you have captured in the Palbox. However, this changes if you assign one of your Pals to work at the base. In this case, your guild members will also have access to these Pals.
- Your character is tied to the world in which it was created. You must create a new character for each server you join for the first time. It doesn’t matter if you’ve only played in single-player mode before, as this restriction applies to all characters and game modes.
- Palworld offers you various options to change certain parameters of your game world and adapt them to your own playing style. This can also be done retrospectively and can be done separately for each of the worlds you have created in the world selection.
- If you or your fellow players don’t like certain mechanics, such as dropping Pals after a player dies, you can disable them.
