Season 4 of “The Witcher” brings with it a fundamental change: Liam Hemsworth takes on the role of Geralt of Rivia for the first time. Fans can look forward to the premiere date on October 30, 2025, when all eight new episodes will be released simultaneously on Netflix.

“The Witcher” Season 4: General facts and premiere date

Netflix has officially confirmed the fourth season of “The Witcher” for October 30, 2025. Production of the new episodes ran from April to October 2024, as there had been delays due to strikes in Hollywood.

  • With the direct order for a fifth season, the end of the epic series is already in sight, as both seasons were filmed back-to-back without a major break.
  • Unlike in previous years, all eight episodes will be released together this time, allowing fans to binge-watch the series.
  • The focus is particularly on the change of actors: Henry Cavill is leaving the series after three seasons, and Liam Hemsworth is taking over as the witcher Geralt.

    Story and cast

The plot of season 4 picks up where the dramatic events of The Witcher 3 left off: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are separated and fighting for survival independently of each other on a continent ravaged by war.

    • The narrative is divided into three perspectives. Ciri, under the name Falka, joins a youth gang known as the “Rat Pack.”
    • Geralt travels through Nilfgaard with old and new allies—including Dandelion, Milva, and, for the first time, the vampire Regis—in search of Ciri. Yennefer leads a lodge of sorceresses and has set herself the goal of tracking down Vilgefortz and bringing Ciri to safety.
    • In addition to Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, many familiar faces are back: Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Joey Batey as Dandelion/Jaskier, and Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz.
    • New to the cast are Laurence Fishburne as the vampire Regis, Sharlto Copley as the bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy as the spy Skellen, and Danny Woodburn as the dwarf Zoltan.
    • The character of Vesemir also has a new actor in Peter Mullan. Viewers can therefore expect a diverse mix of familiar and new characters who will further expand the universe of “The Witcher.”
