Is my Switch patched?: Available methods

Not every Nintendo Switch can be patched to access Recovery Mode (RCM). This mode allows you to hack the console without a Nintendo Switch mod chip and use custom firmware (FMW), for example.

  • Only Nintendo Switch V1 models are not patched. If you have a Nintendo Switch Lite, V2, or OLED, you will need a mod chip instead.

  • V1 models include a whole range of serial numbers, which you can check via the Switch Serial List. Serial numbers beginning with XKW1, XKJ1, XJW1, and XWW1 have already been patched.

  • Most Nintendo Switch consoles released in 2017 can theoretically be hacked. Alternatively, you can simply enter your serial number on the IsMySwitchPatched website and get an immediate result. The

  • Warning: If you get the result “potentially patched,” you can only be sure by trying to hack the console. If you’re lucky, it won’t need a patch.

Is my switch patched?: Find out your serial number

You can check the serial number of your Nintendo Switch console in just a few moments.

  • If you still have the packaging, you can always find the serial number on the bottom. Look for a number consisting of three letters (e.g., XAW1) and eleven digits (e.g., 10000000000).

  • The serial number can also be found on the device itself. On the standard Switch, it is located in the middle of the back, and on the Lite and OLED versions, it is located on the bottom next to the left speaker.

  • It is just as easy to find the serial number in the Nintendo Switch system settings. Select System from this menu.

  • There you will find the serial numbers. Use the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons to navigate to them and check the serial number of the console at the top of the list.
