If you have an English keyboard, the colon is not located on the bottom-right key as usual. Instead, on both British and American keyboards, you can only type this punctuation mark using a keyboard shortcut.
English keyboard: Typing a colon
- Windows and Linux: Regardless of whether your keyboard layout is set to English (UK), English (US) or English (Canada), you can always type a colon using the key combination [Shift] + [Ö].
- Mac: On macOS, use the key combination [Alt] + [Ö].
- Alternatively, on all keyboards, you can type the colon using the combination [Alt] + [5] [8]. (You must enter the two digits one after the other using the numeric keypad).
