There can be many reasons why calls fail on an iPhone, so it’s important to rule out one possible problem at a time.
- One possibility is that certain settings that interfere with proper functioning have been activated.
- However, an outdated software version can also cause phone problems.
- Finally, difficulties with your network operator can also cause the problem, so before you start identifying possible causes on your iPhone, you should first check whether there are any disruptions with your network operator.
iPhone message: Call failed – check settings
If there is no update that allows you to make calls again, you should check your settings.
- To do this, first turn on Airplane Mode in Settings, wait five seconds, and then turn it off again.
- Disable the “Do Not Disturb” option under ‘Settings’ ☻ “Do Not Disturb.”
- Make sure that the number you wanted to call is not blocked. To do this, navigate to “Phone” ☻ “Block & identify calls” in the settings.
- Also disable call forwarding in the settings under “Phone” ☻ “Call forwarding”.

- The error message may also have something to do with your SIM card.
- Remove the SIM card, clean the contacts with a dry (!) cloth, and reinsert it into the iPhone.
