Android: Turn off email message sound
To stop receiving an annoying sound when you receive new mails, you need to open the settings of your email app. Depending on which app you use for this, the process differs slightly. In the following, we will show you how to proceed in the Gmail app.
– First, open the app on your Android smartphone and tap on the three dashes in the top right-hand corner.
– Open the settings and then select your email account where you want to turn off the sound.
– Scroll down until you find “Notification settings” and tap “Manage notifications”.
– Here you can turn off the sound for new mails via the item “Silent notifications”.
iOS: Turn email sound off
On iOS, the message tone for emails can also be turned off in just a few steps,
– Open the settings of the iOS device
Under “Messages” you will find a list of all the apps for which you can edit the notifications. There, select the “Mail” app and then your desired mail account.
– Tap on the slider at the point “Sounds” here to turn off the email sound when a new mail is received.
