Making your own birthday cards is a great idea, as it makes the gift even more personal and special. There are plenty of craft ideas to choose from. In this article, we’ll show you three of them with step-by-step instructions and pictures.
How to Make a Birthday Card
- First, cut a piece of string. Tie the string in a knot or glue it to the inside of the card so that it hangs down on the outside, looking like a garland.
- Before you secure the string, however, you’ll first need to attach the washi tape.
- To do this, cut five pieces of washi tape, each about four centimeters long, and stick them at even intervals along the string so that it looks like a garland.
- Then cut small notches into the washi tape. The middle piece should also be secured with craft glue or a bit of double-sided tape.
- Now you can embellish the card with a great message like “Happy Birthday.”
A beautiful cake design for your message
- The cake design can be easily created using washi tape.
- To do this, cut a few strips of the colorful washi tape, making sure the strips get progressively smaller.
- Now stick the strips onto the card. It’s best to start by sticking the longest strip relatively far down on the card. Then place the next smaller piece on top of it.
- Finally, use pens to draw a candle and a message on the card, and your wonderful surprise is ready.
- Tip: If you want to draw more details, you can add a nice cake stand, for example.
Design a Card with Watercolors
- First, dampen your brush with water.
- Now draw the first line relatively low down and in the center. This line should be blue. Then draw a new line a little further away, this time in green.
- Repeat this until you have painted seven lines on top of each other. The order of the colors we used is: blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple.
- Of course, you’re free to choose any colors you like.
- Finally, draw candles on the top line and add a caption.
- You can also use other paints for this artwork. Acrylic paint works just as well as watercolor, for example.
