Word: Disabling AutoSave

by Pramith

If you find Word’s AutoSave feature annoying, you can disable it in the settings. We’ll show you exactly how to do this.

Word: Disabling AutoSave

  1. Open Word and click on the ‘File’ tab in the top-left corner of the window (Word 2013). If you’re using Word 2007, click the ‘Windows button’ instead.
  2. Now select ‘Options’; this will open in a new window.
  3. In the menu bar on the left, go to ‘Save’ and look for the ‘Save documents’ category.
  4. Here, uncheck the box next to the option ‘Save AutoRecover information every 10 minutes’.
  5. Then click the “OK” button to apply the settings.
