Heat-resistant paints for various purposes
If you paint hot objects with conventional paint, it will crack and flake off after a while. The heat can also cause toxic substances to be released into the air you breathe. In the worst-case scenario, the paint may catch fire. You should therefore use heat-resistant paints. Depending on the object, there are various specialised paints and varnishes available. However, all paints and varnishes should be fire-resistant, provide corrosion protection and be able to withstand high temperatures.
- You can paint your fireplace or stove with fireplace paint. You’ll need to decide whether you want to paint masonry, a wall or metal parts.
- Heat-resistant wall paint is suitable for the wall or masonry.
- If you want to paint metal parts on the stove , you should use a stove-top paint.
- For a barbecue , you should ensure that the paint is food-safe, as you will be preparing food on it. Clean your barbecue thoroughly before applying the paint.
- Roughen the surface and degrease it. You can then paint the barbecue. Apply three to four coats of paint. However, allow it to dry after each coat.
- You can also repaint your exhaust pipe or brake calipers. The new paint will protect against corrosion. Remove the exhaust and clean it. You can then paint it. It is best to leave the exhaust to dry overnight.
