Whether you’re developing an app or want to embed Google Maps into your website, the API key allows you to integrate the maps you’ve created directly into your project.
- Log in to Google using your account details.
- Then go to the Google Maps Developers page.
- Here you’ll find a choice between ‘Android’, ‘iOS’, ‘Web’ and ‘Web Services’.
- In the next step, click on the ‘Request key’ button in the top right-hand corner.
- You will now need to give your API key a name. This is also useful if you manage multiple projects and wish to retrieve the API key again later.
- Once you have clicked on “Create and enable API”, your API key will be displayed.
