On streaming websites, you’ll find videos in the DivX format as well as Flash videos. We’ll show you what this actually is and how to play DivX videos.
DivX: What is it?
DivX is a widely used video codec.
- This is needed to save videos in a specific format. In many cases, you’ll need the DivX Player to play them.
- A film on DVD is usually around 6 gigabytes in size. With DivX, a video can be compressed to such an extent that it is only around 700 megabytes in size and therefore fits onto a CD. However, the quality is hardly affected.
- DivX is often used for file sharing, such as on Kinox.to. As the films are always hosted on websites such as StreamCloud.eu, the download speed is severely limited. The DivX format makes the film considerably smaller, without significantly reducing the quality.
