Phasmophobia: The insurance in the game explained

by Corinna

The survival horror game Phasmophobia has an insurance and is suitable for everyone who likes to be creeped out and play detective. Especially for beginners, certain features, like the insurance, can be confusing. In this article you will learn what it is all about.

Phasmophobia: Insurance explained simply

Similar to normal insurance, the one in Phasmophobia helps you financially after your death.

  • More specifically, it’s about the equipment you assemble before your mission.
  • You pay for these with the money you get in the game by completing missions.
  • For certain missions you also need special items that you can only get by paying.
  • Once you lose your equipment in the game, e.g. by dying, your spent money would also be wasted. That’s what insurance is for.
  • This means that at the “amateur” level of difficulty you will be reimbursed 50 per cent of your costs, as an “advanced” 25 per cent and as a “professional” you will unfortunately come away empty-handed.

How to get money for equipment

You get different rewards for completing missions depending on the difficulty level.

  • For “advanced” you receive double for successful missions. As a “Pro” you even get three times as much.
  • Missions can be e.g.: “Use incense sticks”. Additionally, if you survive after completing the task, you will receive double the money.
  • You will also receive money if you take photos of ghosts or phenomena.
  • The most important thing in the game is, of course, to classify the phenomenon correctly using the process of elimination. If you manage to do that, you’ll get even more money.
