by Pramith

The popular trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh! has released countless cards after many years. The five most expensive ones stand out mainly because of their rarity

Place 1: Most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! card – Blue-eyed White Dragon

Although it may seem like déjà vu, this version of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is vastly different from the one in 4th place and is the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! card sold, with a price tag of $85,000.00.

  • Blue-Eyes White Dragon LOB-001 was sold on eBay in the First Edition, which is a strictly limited edition of the card or the 2020 booster box. Cards of the First Edition are strictly limited in their edition, as they are usually only produced and sold for a short time for the release of the booster box. All other batches are so-called Unlimited Versions of the cards.
  • In addition to the “1st Edition” lettering on the card, the eye of Anubis also differs from the other editions. This is golden on 1st Edition cards. In the case of this Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, the image of the monster is also different, compared to the monster of the same name on rank 4.
  • The Blue-Eyes White Dragon sold was rated PSA Gem Mint 10, as were many other cards in the top 5.

Place 2: It is a trap card

The trap card Crush Card Virus SJCS-EN004 is among the most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and lands in 2nd place overall, having sold for $49,999.00 at auction.

  • Like the Doomcaliber Knight and Cyber Stone, the Crush Card Virus trap card familiar from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime is also a Shonen Jump Championship Series prize card. In 2007, a total of 40 copies were produced and awarded to the winners of the tournaments. Since the card has since been released in 10 different booster packs and structure decks, it is this rare variant in particular that is highly sought after by collectors.
  • Selling for just under $50,000.00, this card was also awarded the coveted PSA Gem Mint 10, making it authentic and in perfect condition, free of any defects such as printing errors or signs of use.
  • Due to its powerful effect, the text of the card had to be adjusted a total of four times over the years to allow it to continue to be used in official tournaments.

Place 3: Cyber Stone

The Cyber Stone monster card takes 4th place on the list of most expensive Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, having sold for a whopping $30,100.00 in 2020.

  • The Cyber Stone SJC-EN001 card was awarded as a prize card in the 2004 Shonen Jump Championship Series.
  • There are only 18 copies of this special 2004 tournament version, which explains the high price.
  • The card sold was in perfect “PSA Gem Mint 10” condition which is noteworthy in and of itself considering that it was issued in 2004 and thus comes with no flaws or signs of use despite the many years.

Place 4: Blue-Eyes White Dragon

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is one of the most popular and also best-known monsters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. The iconic card design sold for $25,100.00 in version DDS-001, landing it as the 4th most expensive card.

  • Blue-Eyes White Dragon DDS-001 is a promo card that was included with the 2002 Game Boy Color game Dark Duel Stories. However, since there were two different sets of cards randomly included with the game during production, it was a matter of luck whether buyers would enjoy the now highly coveted card when they unboxed the game. Nowadays, original sealed games are sold on eBay for several thousand euros.
  • Based on this, then, it is not surprising that the PSA Gem Mint 10 rated card sold for a whopping $25,100.00 in 2021. Other examples of this card have regularly been given away for over $10,000.00 in recent years.

Place 5: Doomcaliber Knight SJCS-EN006

The Doomcaliber Knight SJCS-EN006 card sold for a whopping $15,300.00 at auction in 2021, making it the

  • The monster was handed out as a prize card as part of the Shonen Jump Championship Series, a series of US tournaments.
  • In total, only about 70 copies of this card are said to be circulating, as it is the sixth of seven exclusive tournament cards handed out during the Shonen Jump Championships.
  • Sold with a PSA rating of 7 out of a possible 10 points. PSA is a so-called grading company that verifies the authenticity and condition of the card and helps determine the value of your Yu-Gi-Oh cards. According to PSA, there even exists a Gem Mint 10 version of the card, which has not been sold but is estimated to be worth $40,000.00.
