Anno 1800: Fertiliser – all info, tips and tricks

by Pramith

Fertilizer is a resource in Anno 1800 that can be used effectively to increase production.

Anno 1800: Produce fertilizer

Fertilizer in Anno 1800 is only available if you own the DLC Germ of Hope.

  • The expansion allows you to use the Hacienda. This is a building that is unlocked from the Obrero population level. You can set one hacienda per island, ideally with enough space for the numerous modules.
  • These modules include the fertiliser plant. The fertiliser plant automatically converts manure from animal farms with alpacas or cattle near the hacienda into fertiliser.
  • Manure production is only possible in the New World. Fertiliser can be used via fertiliser silos in the Old World and Cape Trelawney as long as you equip the farms there with them.
  • Fertiliser increases the production of your farms by 100 percent. While you can sell and trade the resource to traders for 16 coins per ton, this is not recommended due to its effectiveness.
  • Tip: You can use fertiliser on expeditions to increase the Medicine skill by ten bonus points. To do this, you need 50 tons of fertiliser.

Optimise fertiliser production in Anno 1800

To optimise fertiliser production in Anno 1800, we have the following tips for you:

  • Prefer to alpaca farms for fertiliser production. The alpaca wool produced can be effectively used as a commodity while fertiliser production is going on.
  • If possible, use an island primarily for manure production with numerous farms and several fertiliser plants. You can then ship the manure around your empire as you see fit.
  • Fertiliser, in combination with tractors, allows you to increase productivity by up to 400 per cent as long as you use 96 fields for the farm in question.
