You cannot deactivate Instagram Reels. However, you can archive them and retrieve them from the archive. The procedure is very simple
Deactivate Instagram Reels: All info
Since it is not possible to deactivate Instagram Reels directly, simply archive them.
- Open the Instagram app: Start the Instagram app on your smartphone and log in to your account if you have not already done so
- Navigate to the reel: Tap on your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen to go to your profile. Then select the reel you want to archive
- Select the three dots: In the reel, you will see three dots at the bottom right. Tap on them and then select the “Manage” option.
- Archive: At the bottom you will see the red “Archive” button, which you also tap. You will then be asked again whether the reel should be archived. Confirm this
To retrieve the reel from the archive
If you want to retrieve the archived reel, this is also possible in just a few steps.
- Open profile: Click on your profile picture at the bottom right to access your profile.
- Open settings: At the top right you will see three dashes, tapping on which will take you to the settings.
- Open archive: Under “How to use Instagram” you will find the archive that you open.
- Open post archive: The next step will either say “Post archive”, “Story archive” or “Live archive” at the top left. If it says “Post archive”, you are correct, if not, click on the respective term and then select “Post archive”.
- Click on reel: Click on the desired reel and then on the three dots at the top right. If you select “Show in profile”, the reel is back again.
