Use Google Bard: How the AI chatbot works in search

by Mike

Google wants to use the artificial intelligence Bard in future to enhance web searches via the search engine. This is a language model that has similar functions to ChatGPT.

This is how Google wants to use the ChatBot Bard

There is currently a competition between Microsoft and Google. Microsoft published the integration of the AI model ChatGPT into the Bing web search. Now it is also known that Google wants to expand its web search with the artificial intelligence Bard.

  • Google Bard: This is a large language model based on the AI LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). Similar to ChatGPT, you can communicate with the chatbot via dialogue. This gives you access to complex information and different subject matters.
  • Features: Google’s AI initiative has three parts: the chatbot called Bard, new AI features in Google Search, and the provision of application programming interfaces (APIs) that can be used to develop AI applications. The AI-driven language model LaMDA plays a central role. Bard is based on a variant of the AI language model.
  • Difference to ChatGPT: This lies primarily in the up-to-dateness. ChatGPT 3.0 was fed with information until mid-2021. Google Bard is supposed to be able to draw on current information from the network right from the start.
  • Development: There has been criticism in the past that artificial intelligences could be misused. Google has let its voice software be used internally by employees in recent years, but has shied away from a broad rollout because of the risks.
  • Publication: Google Bard has also been available in Germany since 13.07.2023. You can use Google Bard at https://bard.google.com/.

How does Google Bard AI work?

Google Bard AI is a large language model that has been trained with a huge amount of text and code. You can generate text, translate languages, write different types of creative content, and answer questions informatively.

  • To answer questions, Bard AI uses data to understand the meaning of the question and then searches the dataset for information that is relevant. It then processes this information to generate an answer that is both accurate and informative.
  • Google Bard AI is constantly learning and improving, so the outputs are likely to get steadily better over time. However, one should still be careful about what data one provides to Google Bard AI, or perhaps because of it.
