Sending messages with iMessage – for free?
Basically, iMessage works just like WhatsApp and other instant messenger services that are on your smartphone or tablet?
- With iMessage, you can send and receive pictures, videos, contacts or simple messages on your iPhone. Similar to WhatsApp, the messages are sent over the internet.
- Your messages are thus handled with your data tariff. Unlike SMS or MMS, there are no charges for individual messages. However, this is only the case if both people involved in the conversation send and receive the message via iMessage. You can see this by the send button.
- If the send button is green, an SMS is sent in this case. Depending on the mobile phone contract, costs may be incurred here.
