Corona: At what point am I considered fully vaccinated or recovered?

by Corinna

Those who have been vaccinated against Corona or are officially considered to have recovered enjoy more freedom than those who have not been vaccinated. But when exactly am I considered fully vaccinated or recovered? We explain that here. In addition, you can find out which documents you need to be able to show.

This means vaccinated and recovered

Depending on the infection history of the Corona virus, the guidelines for when you are considered vaccinated or recovered will change and this will also affect the 3G, 2G and 2G Plus rule. Currently, contact restrictions and curfews are not an issue, but vaccinated and recovered people often enjoy benefits and may even be put on an equal footing with negative-tested people.

  • You are considered vaccinated 14 days after you have received the required two vaccinations. Only with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is one vaccination enough. So you need the full vaccination protection + 14 days waiting period. In addition, you must not have any symptoms of a possible infection.
  • You are also considered fully vaccinated if you have a proven recovery and have received at least one vaccine dose.
  • You are considered recovered if you have survived a Corona infection and can prove it with a positive PCR test. The PCR test must be at least 28 days old and no more than three months old. If the illness was more than ninety days ago, you are no longer considered to have recovered.
  • Important documents: As a vaccinated person, you will need your vaccination card or certificate in addition to a photo ID to claim your new rights. Those who have recovered should carry proof that they have been through Corona.
  • Relaxations of the quarantine requirement are available for people with booster vaccination (vaccinated three times), Johnson and Johnson vaccinated with two additional vaccinations, fully vaccinated within the first three months, fully recovered within the first three months and fully recovered with one additional vaccination.
  • Under the 2 G plus rule, people with the booster, are not currently required to test. However, it may still be a good idea to get tested regularly, as people with the booster can also get sick.
  • Since new virus variants are always appearing, deadlines can always change here.
  • In the current amendments to the Ordinance Amending the COVID-19 Protective Measures Exemption Ordinance and the Coronavirus Entry Ordinance, all this is also explained in detail once again (as of 15 January 2022).
  • Travel abroad is possible for people who have recovered and have been vaccinated, although there are recommendations and restrictions here as well, which can currently be found on the homepage of the Federal Foreign Office. In addition, the entry regulations for Germany can be found there.
  • You still have to wear an FFP2 mask on public transport such as buses, trains and planes, as well as in shops.
