You can delete your Mastodon account directly in the provider’s app. This can be done with just a few clicks.

To delete your Mastodon account, open the app beforehand. The following instructions are suitable for iOS and Android versions of the app:
- In the Mastodon app, navigate to the gear icon in the upper right corner. Then select the account settings.
- Within the account settings, you will find the Delete account option. Click “Continue Here” to start the account deletion process.
- Now enter your password into the field below. Before that you will be shown the main consequences of account deletion.
- After entering the password, confirm the account deletion. The user account will be deleted and you can alternatively log in with a new account.

There are other points to consider when deleting your Mastodon account:
- Be aware that the account cannot be recovered after deletion. Instead, you will need to create a new account to use Mastodon.
- Your posted content on the platform will also be deleted. They cannot be retrieved or viewed afterwards.
- You cannot re-enter your previously used username for a new account. Usernames are always unique, even if the associated account is deleted.
