- The “Run” window will open. Type in the command “netplwiz” and confirm by pressing “Enter”.
- At the top, uncheck the box next to “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”.
- Then click the “Apply” button. Another window will open.
- Now enter the name of the account and confirm the associated password twice. Click “OK” to close the window.

- If you want to bypass the Win8 tile screen completely and get back the tried and tested start menu, we recommend the free download of “Start8”.
Start Windows 10 without a password
When you start up Windows 10, you will be asked for a password by default. If you want to start without a password, you have to disable it for individual users. You will then be logged in automatically. However, we would like to point out that a password protects your data.
- Start Windows 10 and enter your password.
- Press the “Windows key” and “R” as a key combination.
- Then enter “netplwiz” and confirm with Enter.
- This opens the user accounts menu. Uncheck “Require users to enter a username and password” and confirm with “OK”.
- Now you will be asked again to enter the password you have been using so far. This is to confirm the process.
- The next time you start, you will be logged in automatically without being asked for a password.
